My husband and I will be building a bigger coop in the next few weeks. We know what plan we are going with which is an 8x10 with raised roosts and nesting boxes, and the part I am most excited about is the automatic Flemming door we have (no more getting up at the crack of dawn to let them out).

What we need advice about is ventilation. We know how important it is, but what works best? Open gables with hardware cloth around it? Low vents, high vents? What is best from those of you who actually know from experience.

Ready, set, GO!

The best ventilation is that which does not allow drafts on the birds while on their roosts during cold weather. Check out the many designs found in the coops section of BYC. There are some great inspirational ideas there.
