My coop is 4'x7' but the sides are only 22" high and rise to a peak of 4'.
I have 3 standard and 2 bantams six week olds that currently like to sleep in a pile. I need input on how high to place the roost and poop board so that they don't lose too much coop space but it is still functional. I plan on placing the roost between the 4' sides, not the 7', because that is where the doors for cleaning are. Thanks!

My roosts in my smaller coop are only 2 feet off the ground and they use them just fine. I think the main thing is that they can roost and that the roost is above the nest boxes or they will roost IN the nest boxes which would be bad. The nest boxes can be on the floor too...my bantam hens love the floor nests

If there is not room to walk under it, then it does not matter. Just put it where it's easiest to clean, either right on the floor or raised up high enough that you will not have trouble fishing out stale dusty bedding from where it accumulates under the board.

GOod luck, have fun,

Pat
