Hello,
I have an Eglu Cube, with the attached run attached to a 63 sq foot run with a roof. I started with two chocolate orpington bantams, one old english game bantam, one standard olive egger and one standard Ameraucana. (So with the two runs there's almost 80 sq feet of run space). I just gave away the Ameraucana because it was being aggressive (and may have been a rooster). So now I just have three bantams and one standard sized bird. I am worried that won't be enough body heat in the winter to keep the cube warm (it can get to -40F on some very cold nights). The previous owner almost melted the cube with the birds inside using a heat lamp, so I don't plan to use a heat lamp. (She stopped using it after that and didn't have a problem, but I think she had several standard sized birds) I will probably put plastic on three of the walls of the run to make it a little more sheltered, and half of the roof is clear polycarbonate to let the sun in.

I was thinking I would get another couple birds...but I was wondering if I should keep what I have and then add a couple birds to the flock next year so that there will be more consistency of eggs over time. But I do want to make sure there's enough body heat over the winter.

Right now the birds I have are 10-11 weeks old. They are super easy going, and mellow. Right now they all cuddle in one corner of the cube so it seems more than spacious than I would have expected.
Technically I think with a large attached run they say you can have up to 6 LF or 10 bantams in the cube but I don't want to go over 6 even with my three bantams.
