First time using incubator. None of our chickens are broody hens.
We have 40 eggs in the incubator. 21 days was on the 21st of May. 2 chicks hatched on Tuesday 20th , one hatched on Wednesday, and two have a small hole started on Tuesday night but have never done anything else. I can see them breathing in there shell but one is very lightly. I have only opened the edge of the lid to snatch out the empty egg shell twice and check the temp which is around 99-100 degrees. The last time I did this it smells really bad like something rotten. Could this just be the stuff that leaked into the bottom of the incubator or could my chickens be dying inside the shell??? Its been 48 hours since the first chicks were hatched and Should I put them in there brooder area now??? Should we assist the two that have small holes but haven't hatch yet over 36 hours? I have no idea what the humidity level is but there are a few drops of water on the glass that you look in to see them.
