Hi,

I'd appreciate some links to simple DIY coop designs. I did google searches, but am having a hard time finding details on how to build. Help is much appreciated!!

Here is one for 3 hens that we make:

Its made out of 6 pine pallets and 1/2 of a 4x8 plyboard. The dimensions are 3'x3'x3'high.

Now you can stuff 4 hens in that, but they will be sort of cramped and chaffed.

.This type of coop is designed for standard breeds in urban backyards where the livestock laws limit only up to 4 hens.

Welcome to the forum!

Have you browsed through the coop designs here? There's a link on the top of this page. If you see something you like you could always send the owner a private message asking for further details, whether there are drawings, etc.

For something perhaps more specific, you could take a look at the Garden Coop page:

Personally, I think the hardest thing is figuring out what you want to build. Once you do that, the actual building part of it isn't that challenging, and I say that as someone who had zero experience building anything when I started out building my first coop/run. I didn't use any plans, just built in a way that made intuitive sense.

gmendoza: You are the chicken keeper I've been looking for!!! I absolutely love your pallet cube design. I have access to a plethora of pallets and I'd like to use that design. Can you give any play by play instruction? Any help would be appreciated. It's a fantastic idea! If you don't already charge for it, you could. I'd be willing to pay for the plans, or if you're the charitable type, I'll take any advice you can offer. It looks like there's some bracing inside, is that a roost? A nestbox?

Literally, I've been searching for hours, and this was the very idea I was looking for!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
