Hi all!

I could use some expertise on some of the chicks I have. they are all mixed breed. The majority of the light colored ones are EE/Buckeye mixes the others are mixes with a Buckeye roo and Barred rock, black star, jersey giant, silver laced wyandotte or buff orpington hen.

If someone could provide some tips on what to look for I'd be really grateful. Being a mixed breed I'm not sure if looking at combs would help.

I have noticed a few have larger combs and thicker feet but I don't know if that's due to the particular breed of mom or an actual indicator of gender. They were all hatched about 3.5 weeks ago.

thanks!!!

I don't know if it will work with mixed breeds but girls feather out faster and roosters when their combs come in they are pinker

We hatched together, and I'm in the same boat! I want to call them EE"s, but only one has dark legs and two have muffs; there are three different combs involved

. I can only sex them if they're apples to apples -- this is a fruit salad. I don't want to look like an idiot by calling them EE, but I SAW them all come out of green eggs! I think I'm going to sell them as straight run, no matter how old they get to be! Good luck!

I'm having the same problem with mine. I have no idea on how to sex mixed breed chicks. I usually wait until they either crow or lay. Any pointers would be helpful.
