Need bantam cochin chick help - breed (color) and gender, if possible. (Picture heavy)

Hi, I received an order of bantam cochins today. These are my first cochins I've ever owned and I need help figuring out the breeds. I've taken some guesses. Here's a picture of most of them;



1) black and yellow





2) yellow (white cochin?)



3) buff (um, Buff Cochin?)



4) gray with yellow




5) brassy brown



6) black and gray (Barred Cochin?)



7) yellow with brown stripes



8) dark gray




9) yellow with gray stripes

Black or Birchen, barred will have a white head spot

7) yellow with brown stripes

9) yellow with gray stripes


?? Silver Laced?

If they are all cochins, they are the same breed, just different colors

Ah, I should say I need help identifying the colors then. Good point! Thanks for your help with the colors! I love the blues! Wouldn't the blues include black and splash? I think one chick is yellow with a faint gray chipmunk pattern -- could that be splash?

yes, the light blue one could be splash, they are usually a whiteish blue, almost yellow. You could have also gotten a self blue(lavendar), but those chicks should be solid pale blue, almost the same color and adult would be. Your buffs could be red, Ideal has both in bantam

1: Either black or Mottled. Amount of white on the baby makes me lean more towards mottled but you won't know until they grow a bit

2: white

3: Probably Buffs

4: Either splash or lavender

5: Partridge

6: Black

7: That's a very odd looking chick. Doesn't look like any specific variety I've ever seen in cochins

8: Blue

9: The closest I can think of is indeed Silver Laced, but the chick looks really light in color to be that. I guess we'll see when it grows

I took more pictures today. I sold a few of the chicks and set a few of the blue / black / splash ones aside for me

And the 3 other ones - Silver Laced?
