NEED CAYUGA DUCK INFO

I have a two month old Cayuga drake that I have raised from a day-old. I've been pretty sure that he's a Cayuga, but lately he doesn't seem to be growing any more and I was wondering if maybe he is possibly a Black East Indies? Or is it to soon to tell?

By 8 weeks old- they have got a little growing still to go- but mostly its filling out rather than height. It could be that he was a runt and will never be full sized- hard to know for sure just yet. Where did you get him from? Did they have both breeds available for sale?

I got him from our local feed store and they said that they were never told what breed they were -- pretty much just said here's some ducks! They had a bunch of ducklings just like him and others I think were Crested ducks because they had a little poof of.... hair? down? on the back of their heads.

If he was a BEI you would know. They are extremely small and would be unmistakeable. Yes it sounds like the others were crested.

Yeah he weighs about one or two pounds right now

I just found out the name of the hatchery they got their ducks from(Idealpultry.com) and they do not stock Black East Indies! I guess he's just a runt Cayuga. Thanks everyone!

Are you talking about IdealPoultry? Because they do carry BEI's
