Need emergency shopping list - please help

4-5 day old chick is not eating or drinking. Buff Orpington. Significantly smaller than flockmates. I’ve got both a heat plate at 96 and adjacent heat lamp. Large “pop-up”circular brooder. 6 chick total.

Very weak. No bloody stool. Peeped loudly and constantly first 2 hours after bringing her home. Cleared pasty butt, maybe?, dried thoroughly. She’s had normal stool since.

I’m so sorry to bother you guys. I’m surprised she made it through the night. I’m heading to the closest farm store as soon as possible. Please help me help her.

Also - other 5 chicks move about large brooder freely and sleep under plate.

They are on organic chick start feed and non-medicated supplement.

It could just be failure to thrive, there may likely be nothing to be done. So sorry.

sorry to hear about the chick, weak, days old chicks, tough one, shipping is very stressful for young birds, sounds like its the "runt of the litter"...i keep a few packets of chick electrolytes around for that purpose sometimes..... inexpensive at the feed store.........my grandfather used to (sparingly) give chicks like that some sugar water, however I found it can constipates them, not good, trick is to treat them "early" b4 they whither away, keep em warm, monitor it, they might need little "extra" help long enuf to get them over that hump,,, no guarantees though. Sorry you are dealing with this. Some losses are somewhat expected. It's why virtually all hatcheries include an extra chick or two, to cover such "acceptable losses."

Hang in there. I think the same thing with every chicken loss and want to quit but my hubby says "we're not quitting!" That would be giving up. You've got what it takes. With every setback, we learn and we learn and continue to learn.
There are many knowledgeable chicken owners here willing to offer support and advice. I'm learning there will always be losses despite our best efforts.

Hang in there. I think the same thing with every chicken loss and want to quit but my hubby says "we're not quitting!" That would be giving up. You've got what it takes. With every setback, we learn and we learn and continue to learn.

I lost her a few hours later. Just heartbroken, but there are 3 SL Wyandotte chicks, and 2 more Orps that need my attention. They are happily eating and drinking, and seem very healthy.
