Need help developing action plan to attend scaly leg mites / lice

Folks, try scarlett oil. It really works! I had tried vaseline, bag balm, washing, scrubbing with toothbrush, plus more (anything I read here) for 3 months... Then the gal at the Bothell feed and seed told me to buy scarlett oil spray. I still gave them a quick wash in the sink to get their legs clean first. After drying, I hold them while my wife sprays multiple times over the entire leg and foot areas. We then keep them inside until the red oil dries and then we let them back out. They will have red/pink legs that smells like a hospital. THIS STUFF WORKS FAST! After 2 applications - 1 week, I saw big improvement. Also we changes all bedding.

Now our birds are scaly mite free!!!! Our cuckoo maran has beautiful leg plummage now. In fact, we never knew she was a maran because there was no plummage with the mites. I figured she was a barred rock. Now we know what bird she is! She is so proud of her big "boots" and constantly preens them. We call her bootsy.

Plus I heard scaly mites are painful. I'm so glad I learned about scarlett oil. It is a solution for horse injuries so you must go to a farm store. Good luck people. Try Scarlett Oil!!!!

Snack Giver,

Don't know if you'll see this since the post was so long ago, but I was in Bothell Feed the other day to buy Nu-Stock for scaly leg mites, and she also turned me on to the scarlett oil instead. I'm really hoping this will work after seeing your post. I can tell you that the birds aren't diigin it! Don't know if it's the smell or the red color. I was a little worried about the red color and pecking stories I've read, but didn't notice anything going on before I put them to bed. Hope this works!

Paul
