Need Help Finding Some Chicks(bantams)

Isn't there a hatchery that will sell me 2 chicks and will let me pick the gender? I need 2 bantam hens and all the hatcheries say you have to buy a minimum of 25 chicks and they are straight run only! I live in the city so I can't have that many and can't afford that many. I tried looking for hatcheries in my state(ohio) or breeders or something but we have to drive for about 200 miles to get to one! Help!

Try your local feed stores. That is where we buy our small quantities.

Local feed stores are probably your best bet. www.mypetchicken.com will ship in quantities as small as 3 -- not sure about just bantams though -- then it may be 5. Worth a look but you'll have to pay quite a bit for shipping vs. a feed store.

ya we bought our last chicks at TSC but we are going everyday,literally, to see if they have bantam chicks because they sell out so quickly. so far we had no luck....
