Apparently, my chicks got scared during the storm last night, even though they are in the house (they're only 2 weeks old), and tipped their water over. One of the chicks was totally drenched and catatonic this morning when I went in. I put her in a small container with a heating pad and a towel. I've got her warmed up and more alert, with a little food and water in her. But her feathers are stiff and crusted to her body. She isn't showing any signs of wanting to preen them back up. I thought about washing her in warm water to get the crusty stuff out of her feathers, but I'm concerned about getting her wet again. But she won't stay warm without fluffing her feathers. Any advice? I'm afraid I'm gonna lose her.

Whats the crusty stuff on it? It should be fine. Just make sure shes under a heat lamp with the other chicks.

Not sure, but I ended up bathing her in very warm water and putting her back in the towel with the heating pad and lamp. She was somewhat improved the next morning but weak, having trouble walking. I hand fed her several times during the day. Today, she's even more improved but still not ready to go out with the group. I have her with another low-key chick in their own space. I'm hoping she'll be strong enough to go out with the flock in another couple of days. Needless to say, she's become very tame. :-)
