My saga continues with my new city ordinance. I have a neighbor who will not let the fact that I have chickens rest. Everytime the CEO comes out to tell me what I need to fix I do. Now they are pulling out the fine print to beat me on the head with, which is the fact that I can not free range my chickens in my fenced yard. I must keep them 5 feet from any adjoining fence. So I have emailed my city councilmen and this is what I got back
"As a city, we have been very proactive in allowing people to raise chickens in residential neighborhoods. Consequently, I believe it would be unwise to change the current ordinance until we have had some time to see how well it works and identify any problems - before we consider any further changes. In the meantime, since this is a subject that is very important to you, it would be helpful if you survey other communities that permit the raising of urban chickens to see if and how they accommodate allowing the birds some "free range" time and ensuring they don't find themselves on someone else's property."
If you could please reply giving your city & state and if they allow urban chickens to free range I would appreciate it
