TSC surprise. Asked for 7 Buff Orpingtons- came home with these. I saw her reaching into the tub marked Buff Orpingtons before I left to grab some chick feed. When I got home and opened my box here were my surprise chicks: NOT Buff Orpingtons. Any ideas? My guess is either Blue/Black/Splash Americaunas or Blue/Black/Splash Orpingtons.

Could you call and see what other chicks they got in? Your white bird isn't splash, it's paint so likely a production mix. There are quite a few options at Hoover's for these chicks so narrowing down a little by what shipments they received might help to give a general direction. I believe I see single combs and no muffs so I feel comfortable ruling out Ameraucana

Ha! Funny that TSC would even consider these the same breed, let alone Buff Orpingtons.

I can try to guess but others will be better. The first one looks like a blue of some sort but not sure what. 2nd one may be an Australorp or Jersey Giant. The yellow one with the black spot could be a California White.

Beautiful chicks! :love

I would take new pictures in a couple of weeks. I think you'll have better luck then. Chicks are very difficult to discern as so many look the same.

You could always try this link too to see if you can find any of yours here:

Thank you so much for your replies. I know patience is best, since they don’t exactly match any of the pics on the different hatchery identifier sites. I’m just hoping they are cold hardy and heat tolerant since I live where both swings happen every year.
