My kids got colored chicks for Easter. We are hoping for all pullets so we don't have to get rid of any but it is yet to be seen. I think they were about 1-2 wks when we got them because their new wing feathers had come in good. All my green ones have feathered legs. I noticed that the bottom part of their wings are much longer than the other wing feathers. Is this a certain trait or maybe just the way they are growing in. I haven't noticed it on my other chicks. I was wondering if there was any way as to guess at the breed.

It looks like a small comb but it is barely raised with no color at all so far. Thank you for your opinions. Any and all are welcome.

Is there any way to tell what kind of breed this is even tho it is dyed?

Interesting. Normally dyed chicks are 'throwaways' like male leghorns and/or meatbirds. I'd say you have a splash cochin. No signs of being male yet.

All of my "green" ones have feathered legs and 2 of them have the white wings with a bit of black and have some black feathers coming in on their neck. Is there a particular age when they start showing the male characteristics? I have about 2 of them that have little yellow combs but no wattles or redness showing. They are about 3 or maybe little close to 4 weeks old.
