Ok, so here's what's happened...

This is my first ever hatch. Yesterday this little guy hatched and when he broke free from the shell I noticed that his left leg is bending in toward his other leg. Is this "splayed leg?" I'm so confused as to what to do and I've been so upset about it. He made it through the night and seems to be healthy and he's just a kickin' that other leg trying to stand up. I've got him warm and cozy. He's even drinking a tad bit of water when I assist him with it. All he does is spin around and around with the good leg. The bad leg I don't think is broken, because he moves it too. Is there a chance he will make it? I'm going to fall apart if I have to put him down.

If he just hatched give him time to adjust and strengthen. Its not splayed leg, splayed leg is when the legs go out from walking on slippery surfaces ect. I would just let it be for now and see if it straightens out.

He's still okay and he's made it through the day but not walking.

It is hard in such a little one- but can you feel to make sure that leg is not dislocated up near the hip?
With it rotated the way it is- that would be my first thought for the worst case scenario- other than that- with time he may come good or at least learn to walk with a bit of a limp if the leg never comes completely back into the right position.

It's not dislocated as I can tell. Maybe with a little physical therapy his leg will gain more strength and he will have more strength too as he is getting older. Im not giving up! Thanks for your help guys. :)
