This is my first hatch of pheasants Their lady amherst, We're on day 25 today. The first pip was Tues morning, day 23. That chick is now out, but it wasn't until lastnight, to me it seems all twisted up, it keeps its legs curled up and its head twisted to the side a lil and keeps getting turned on its back. It was close to 48hrs from the time it pipped until acutally getting out of the egg, so I'm thinkin maybe its where it was in the egg so long, I know I've had chicken chicks do that and they straighten up within a day. Idk someone with more expereince tell me if I'm right
Then another one that had pipped yesterday morning was alive lastnight has now died, it never did more than a pip.
Another one that pipped yesterday morning is out, but it seems normal as far as head, but its legs just seem long to me, maybe I'm used to bantam chick legs..however its knocking its joint in the leg on the wire in the bator, and makeing them bleed, I had to move him onto a towel to keep him from doin that. He's not what you say walking on his legs, their folded up underneath him and hes bangin them on the wire????
I noticed one more that hadn't pipped lastnight has now, which just leaves me with one left that hasn't done anything.
Have I got some "freaky" pheasant chicks' that I'm goin to have to cull? Is it something I did, genetic or normal. I'm just really blown away with this. Any help would be appreciated..
