Anyone have a thermometer that they particulary like and very acurate?I know you gotta calibrate it before you use it on the eggs as well. Also any links or pics of the thermometer your using would be greatly appreciated! I just wanna get this right the first time so ill have a high hatch rate.

Most people generally recommend using two thermometers - so you have a "double check", if you will.
I used the mercury thermometer that came with my incubator and just before I locked down, I went and bought a little digital clock/thermometer/hygrometer that I found to be accurate... You can see them in the two photos below (along with additional info about the digital thermometer, below the photos):

It's called a "Temp Minder" and it was $14.99 Can.

The model # is MRC555 from Minder Research Incorporated with their head office listed at 3000 SE Waaler Street, Stuart, FL 34997 USA and telephone: 1-772-463-6522; e-mail: [email protected] or
website: www.MinderResearch.com

It measures temperature in F and C, humidity (between 20-90%), it has a minimum and maximum memory for, both temperature and humidity and it also has a 12/24 hour clock. It takes 3 "AAA" batteries and has a little pull out stand (like a picture frame) in the back.

Here's what it looks like and, hopefully, there's some piece of information in all of that, that might be of help to you.

I have three and all three have different readings. My digital says 96.5, one mercury says 100 and the other 99.5, so I'm hoping I'm close, lol.... But yea, I too am a total newbie at this and would love more info and how do you calibrate them. Thanks!!!!

Remember - it also makes a difference if you're using an incubator with a fan or a still-air incubator. With a still-air, it will make a bit of difference, where your thermometer is, within the bator; heat rises, so one thermometer may read a bit higher if placed on top of your eggs vs. another thermometer placed on the "floor" of your incubator....

I use a laboratory grade dial thermometer. Spend enough to get one that can be calibrated.

My incubator does have a fan so ill keep an extra eye on the temps. I was gonna let my bator run for awhile and then measure where all the temps are inside.
