I have a HUGE aviary type enclosure in the backyard to let my hens have tons of space to roam and be free from predators. Well I almost have it... it should be completed this week. Can I put other birds in with the chickens (like parakeets, love birds, cockateils)?
WHy are we wantitng to do this? We are zoned residential and we want to have an HONEST response to what that enclosure is in our backyard. Saying... an Aviary of course with cockateils, parakeets and misc other birds will suffice to keep nosey neighbors at bay and drive by zoning inspectors.
We are new to the whole chicken thing and we are trying to minimize our mistakes. The birds are only 4-5 weeks old, so we are not working with established territorial birds, yet. Our meat birds are in their little chcicken tractor, rotating through the yard. The girls are still in brooders awaiting the completion of their tropical oasis.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
