I had 3 call eggs that I was hatching. One pipped and died in the shell. So I tried to help the other 2 some and one hatched and died and the other died in shell too. My temp is 100 and humidity is 86%. What did I do wrong. I know they are supposed to be harder to hatch but it is so hard to see them die this close to the end. Any advice? Please help! I have 4 more that are getting ready to hatch in about 4 days. What can I do to make it go better with them?

I had a really stressful time hatching my call ducks as well.

Try bringing your temperature down a few degrees (mine was only 98 when they hatched) and try misting the eggs once everyday now.

If you see a baby pip and it takes a long time for it to get any further, try peeling a small amount of the shell away. If you see that the membrane is pure white, that means the membrane dried out and you might have to hatch the duckling yourself.

I had to do this to two of my call ducklings and they are both perfectly healthy and almost 3 weeks old. =]

Good luck!

Hi,
I think your temp and humidity are too high. The three hatches I have done I haven't lost a single duckling/egg (except those that were not fertile to begin with). I always incubated at 99.5 with humidity around 60% and then on day 25 dropped the temp to 98.5 and upped humidity to 70%. If it is to humid the ducklings can't get enough air through the egg shell and it can weaken or kill them. I would try this for your next 4 babies, I wish you better luck whatever you try. Keep us posted!

I have good news! Thanks so much for the help! I have two baby ducks! One is really weak but still going. And the other one looks really good. They were 2 days early and I did have to help them. I think that really did save them. I lowered the temp and humidity too. The other two were stuck in their eggs! I will try to post some pictures soon. Keep your fingers crossed for my weak duckling. They are too cute. Again Thank You!
