Need help! Red droppings, mopey Polish chicks, one death.

Hmmmm......I think the worms I read about were earthworms and ground worms. They pick it up in the soil and carry it in thier bodies. However.....did your birds pass the pits? That might be something to look into as an offhand, but definitely get your birds treated for cocci. Better way safe than sorry! You never know they could ahve gotten them from those worms.

We got the DE from TSC but they can't get the Corid until Mondayish. We gave it to them this morning and my dad said they were feelongbetter already. The coops were cleaned and bleached and scrubbed too.

It sounds like you're dealing with cocci. Treat all your birds with Corid. DE wont do squat against cocci, waste of money. Cocci are protozoa and are everywhere in the soil, grass etc.... There are 9 different types of cocci that chickens can get, corid treats them all. The dosage for the corid 9.6% liquid solution is 9.5cc's per gallon of water for 5 days. Make it fresh daily. It must be their sole source of treated water to drink. Do NOT add anything to the mixture such as ACV, antibiotics, vitamins. You can add the it to their waterers from the 1 gallon mixture if you wish.

I have treated my chicks with DE when they were near death and they survived. I believe it works because it worked for me, more than once. You can form your own opinion by your experience. Do the research and do what you think is best.
