I dunno...I have hatched quite a few EE's and have found this to not be true. If they have full brown barring like in the first picture then yes they are almost always a pullet. Often times the reddish roos will start out with the brown barring on the wings and then get almost a tie-dyed look to them. If you look at the most recent wing outgrowth and the breast of #2 this is what I am seeing.

Ok here is a good example from EE's I've hatched

See how the preliminary wing outgrowth was both barred and then in the cockerel it began to change.

This doesn't mean for sure you have a roo but as you can see, it is possible with that color.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You will know in a few weeks and you have several months to figure out what to do with him (assuming you cant have roosters in your area).

Anything is possible with EE's! and they are very hard to tell gender at 2 weeks old. 4-6 weeks would be even better because the roos comb will start turning pink.

Thank you ! The pictures really help and show that anything goes with this breed! it would be a little of a problem to have rooster that crows all the time (my mom in law doesn't really like the noise) but if he's good we'll probably end up keeping him! Thanks for your help!
