I have been slowly laying out a asian garden theme for my yard and think I want my coop to look like a miniature pagoda (wouldn't that be cool!) I plan on up to 5 standard hens and maybe a rooster. Have been looking at pagoda pictures and coop designs already but not sure how to put it together. I am trying to keep cost down (aren't we all) and have some "scrap" plywood and particle board, a 40" pallet (can get more if needed) and a 16 foot gazebo that we tore down from an apartment complex last year that is still in pieces. Amazingly enough when we bought the house 11 years ago there was a big roll of chicken wire in the rafters of the garage too.

I live in Iowa and won't be able to run heat to the coop at this point to I will probably need to insulate I am guessing.

I think I am putting it under some really big lilac bushes to help with the shade for summer heat.

So anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

that sounds awsome..

it might be easier to do a single story pagoda or maybe a two tower one..

here are a bunch of pics..

you might be able to do a small one with a four slant roof and use some wide crown molding to create the look of a pagoda..

Not a clue, but I know it will be awesome once you get it finished! I had talked about having something like that once with a friend of mine to keep silkies and japanese bantams in.

Good Luck!

My daughter is in Japan right now - I tried to get her to smuggle home some eggs to hatch - she wouldn't do it! Imagine that.
Where have I gone wrong in my parenting...
