Need help with a new Watering system

The wife and I have decided the current system of using rubber bowls is no longer working for us, so we want to move to a system that connects to some rain barrels to collect water. However the flip side is I also need this system to function in the winter when it drops below zero. I've heard of some sort of heating tape to run through the PVC pipes, but for the life of me my nerd-fu is failing me at the moment. So I'm wondering if anyone has a system like this or can point me in the direction of what I may need?

I heat my coop to just above freezing on a thermostat, best investment we’ve made. Eggs all winter long and coop is comfy,we let them outside if there’s no wind .
