We bought a used small coop and decided to expand it. We have added extensions on each side, and a area for 4 nest boxes on the back. We are having issues with the roof. Our neighbor has been helping us, but the roof is just not coming together like we want. Here are some pics of what we have done so far

We used 3/4 inch wood for the roof extensions on the sides. Our neighbor thought it would be good to use 1/2 wood for the roof over the nest boxes to decrease weight. For ease of shingling and consturction of the walls, would it be better to pull the 1/2 off and use 3/4 for the whole thing and make the whole roof flush? And what angle is best for the roof over the nest box? Any suggestions are appreciated. Please keep in mind that it is a work in progress and we have never built anything like this before!
Thanks!

This has confuzzled me as well...hmmm. The best thing that I can tell you is to take off that white board in the first and fifth pic and the one it overlaps and to put in a longer board to take both of their places. Then nail a board similar in size to a 2"by 4" at the seam under the end of that board where it connects to the other board that is shown to the right in the first pic to support them, connect them, and close the gap. Do that on the other side as well. In general, you need to replace the many smaller boards with fewer larger boards and add supports where they meet. I see a lot of places where 2 boards meet at an angle which leaves a gap. Put a board under them where they meet, it should be small in width, 2x2, 2x4, 4x4 whatever and nail both of the above boards into that board. That should fix the gap. I hope you get this figured out the way you want.

Quote: I see that the reason you put 2 boards there are because you needed them to be different widths where it drops off from the roof. You can use a saw to cut 1 larger board to work instead of using 2.
