Hi. I have duck eggs that are forming what seems like cracks but aren't on the outter shell. They are on day 20 under a broody hen. (Chicken) we have been making sure they are turned so they don't stick as the hen also has chicken eggs. What do you guys think this is from? I may be able to upload a picture later.

I didn't. The link didn't answer my question whatsoever... So I'm not sure if I'm just not reading it right. Yes I saw that the eggs can still be hatched cracked but they aren't cracked. That's why I asked this website because a regular website doesn't always have experiences such as people on here. I wasn't looking for a link. They do not work for this type of question. I've hatched out plenty of eggs but not duck eggs and that's why I asked on here. If you guys could tell me where it talks about complications with duck eggs specificly on there then that'd be great.

Is what you are seeing just porosity of the shell?

Yes. The outside is like cracked but its not deep cracks. Just surface cracks. These are also call ducks so I thought maybe they were hatching earlier than 28 days. People have been saying that a lot.

Are you seeing these "cracks" when candling? These aren't my pictures, but shows eggs with undesirable porousness.

Hmmm...I've hatched tons of eggs, ducks, geese, chickens, and i don't know that I have ever seen what you are describing. I wouldn't worry too much unless the cracks run deep. Maybe coat the cracks in vaseline to keep them from losing moisture too quickly.
