Need help with latches

We have a newly built coop. Need help with a way to secure the egg collection door and the chick’s door.

The collection door is big and heavy and not flush with the coop wall.

The chick door needs a way to lock at night and a way to secure in the open position. It also is not flush. (ramp is removable)

Any advice?

General rule of thumb is if a five year old can open a latch without being taught, so can a racoon.

^that double hinged hasp should work for nest boxes door, use a carabiner on it for extra secure

For the chicken door perhaps a sliding bolt latch for locking, with a "hook and eye" latch to keep it open

Oh, that will likely work! I did not know they made them like this! Thank you! I am going to the hardware store now... Thank you! Stay tuned folks... this "Almost perfect" New coop has a couple of other small issues... LOL

I thought it was a 3-year-old. Either way, whoever is making these rules up, has never had kids.

A hasp with a carabiner through it is enough to stop a raccoon. Can be opened by both a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old just fine.

Butt up a piece of wood the same height as the framing of the hen door and add bolt latch that has a hole at the end to allow it to have a lock put through it, so the bolt cannot move.

From what I can see, the door its not flush with the out side wall when shut. Adding wood to the outside door framing so its flush with the door when shut is going to help with getting a good latch to line up and work.
