I have a 3 month old pekin duck, she has been doing great but today i noticed she is acting funny. She was eating bread earlier in the day. She seems to be walking around slowly and looking like shes trying to poop and also streching out her neck. Im not sure if she was maybe attacked by a dog (no blood or ruffled feathers) or if maybe she has bread stuck. I did massage her throat but she seems to be going downhill fast. My wife and kids moved her into a box in the garage for the night.

She may have botulism, may have ingested some kind of toxin. She may be egg bound.

Is she passing anything? Eating anything? Any guesses how much bread?

Is she drinking?

Can you get her into a tub of lukewarm water deep enough to float in? Can she then manage to stay upright?

Get her separated, with plenty of fresh drinking water with activated charcoal, about 3 capsules per pint of water. Not charcoal briquettes for cooking, use activated food grade charcoal. It absorbs toxins.

Please keep us posted.

If egg bound, the swim in warm water may help her pass it.

If toxins, you will probably very soon want to give her Epsom salts or molasses in water.

Thanks Amiga, i just woke up to her quacking in the garage!!! Shes doin great!!! whatever it was must have passed. Thanks again..
