Need Help With New EE Hens

They are small, but all I've ever had is RIR's and I know they are the big guys. They stayed in the coop last night with the big girls and the roo, they still seem rattled, but that's probably from the move?

more than lilely a little of the move and a little of the other birds, they should be okay, I do agree with the quarentine thing, but that is too late. You know how chickens are, if you move things around they get stressed.

There are two sizes of Ameraucanas and EEs. Standard and Bantam. Without seeing your RIR and Ameraucanas together for comparison I can't say for sure which you have.

The term EE isn't technically interchangeable. If you go to the link at the bottom of my signature it explains it all.

Oh, and by the way your new girls are very pretty!

Thanks, frontporch. I just went to try to take a pic of them side by side, but the poor girls are so terrified they took off! They seem to be a bit happier today. They are the sweetest hens, the little orange girl runs up to me when I go out.

The EEs are usually very friendly. I'll bet you'll find in a couple of months they'll be your favorites.

So are they less than half the size of the RIRs? If so then I'd say they're bantams. If they're just a little bit smaller then I'd say they're standard size.

I think they're bantams too. As well as they fly, I can't imagine they're standards. They're spastic like bantams are too (no offense to bantam lovers!) DF doesn't do his research!

Just had to add that thanks to you guys something happened that's never happened before...

DF ADMITTED HE WAS WRONG!!!

He argued and argued that the hens weren't bantams (which I had become convinced of) until he stumbled across a pic of a buff bantam on eastereggers.com. Then he changed his story! He had to admit that was the same bird that was sitting out in the coop.

I put these ladies on craigslist this morning. They just aren't settling in, and my RIR's are still too rough on them. If you are in my area PM me if you're interested!
