to make a long story short, I made an emergency bator for abandoned eggs. I was not sure when they were due but from what they looked like I thought I had a few days to get them in a better set-up with more humidity. when I went to candle and move them I found one had pipped! the humidity was in the mid to high 40's in the emergency bator. I quickly moved them to the new set up and have maintained good readings the rest of the day/eve, but no movement at all from the pip, and I can see the tip of what I think is the egg tooth and it has not moved at all. its only been 8 hours since I found it and I am wondering what to do after tomorrow? how can I tell if its still alive and should I research on trying to help after 24 or so hours?

Anyone?? no movement this morning. the beak is in the exact same place. I'm no expert, but I would say she must have expired before I found the pip. I am going to need to get her out of there either way.

I would get it out and check it for life. The membranes around the pip look dried out and with that low of humidity it may have become glued by the dry membranes. If it is still alive you will need to at least wet the membranes and make sure they are not stuck to the chick. If you decide to assist, this is a great source of info for that: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/step-by-step-guide-to-assisted-hatching

The PIP is that the correct end,I think it's just the camera angle. I'll take her out and make it just a tiny tiny bit bigger and see if I see any movement or bleeding

thanks. still have 2 left that looked good with the candling. fingers crossed that my homemade bator works for them. its hard to keep humidity steady! Im always squirting a spray bottle to top it off and getting up in the middle of the night to check everything...
