need help with the nest box, need advice please!!!

Hello! So I am making the nest box, I want to do it the "normal" way. With the entrance in the front but my husband as stubborn as he is, wants to have the top gone and have the front half the height of the remaining sides. Is there a right or wrong way when building a nestbox? The min height is 18 inchesd, is there a maximum?

the only thing about nest boxes is to be sure that they are not gonna roost on them at night and get poop in them, so usually they have slanted tops. Also, if you have any hens that are likely to go broody you will want dividers in between the boxes so they dont steal the other chickens eggs to sit on. good luck!

I'm a bit confused??? Are you saying the opening to get in is half the height of the other three sides? Like the other three sides are 8 inches and the front comes up 4 inches???? Chickens tend to like closed, contained areas for laying. They may or may not lay in an open box like that (if that's what you're describing). What are the dimentions he's wanting to use???
