Need info

i am just getting started and would like to know before i order chicks can i put a rooster wit five hens or should i get more hens.

You can have just five hens and a rooster. Most of the time there will be some wear an tear on the hens. You never really know until you have them for a while. But even with more hens there can be a favorite the just gets bare backed. If you are thinking of more hens and have the room adding more next year would be the way to go if there are too many bare backs this year.

Is there a reason you want to start out with a rooster at all? Sometimes it is better to start with only hens to see how things go.
