OK anyone that has turkeys and chikens I need some help BEFORE I make another mistake.

I have chickens 5 in a fairly large pen I want to get a tom Turkey a chicks or chicks I am hoping one of my hens will go broody next spring and I plane to leave her with eggs but at night I plan to put these turkey babies POULTS?? under her ok this is the first idea the second one is to just raise them myself and build another place for the turkeys

ok now saying this do tukeys eat what the chicks do or.......... do they eat something diffeent and if so what do I feed them I was very observant of my little babies a year ago so I will keep a watch on the new turkeys IF I get some and then once they are bigger can they be with chickens or.......you don't mix the to I have heard a turkey and chicken can not produce a chick but a giunea and a chiken can seem like they should be able to the turken seen to be a cross to me but I am sure it is not oh or the show girls they look like it to.

Sorry sorry off track here

I have made a few big blunder I meant well but being thinking how things were to be the giunea she should not of been got I wanted something to look at beside my chickens oh my chicken are nice and friendly but I just wanted some other breed with them I doubt if I am making sense here but now before I make another blunder and another dead animal because I think they can co exsist with weach other I think be smart one day and get some info so I am not puting another in the ground.

I don't have horses or goats or bovine because we don't have enough land or a way to keep them I could put them on a lead but what kindof life is that and animal control would have a problem with me if I did that oh no not that I woulod but I am trting to have everyone understand me I love animals to death my husband and her daughters think I would take care of my animals before them and they should be some sort of animal to be around me other the a human I don't think this but I guess you have to know me to understand this.

Can any one tell me anything I have asked here or warning of IF you......

Thanks

Ten weeks ago I got 7 four to five week old chickens and one turkey, not sure the age but close to the same size. They all seemed to do fine together, the turkey I think is a little confused but seems fine. I wish I had gotten two so she would have at least not been like the ugly ducking- she had been in that between feather stage forever it seems. I feed them all the same food. This may or may not be what your supposed to do but it seems to be working and I'll be looking for more turkeys in the spring!

Turkeys do better with a higher protein food (babies need something like gamebird starter). Having a tom turkey in with your chicken could be a problem depending on how much space you have. With limited space, if the tom tries to breed with a chicken hen it will end badly for the chicken. I lost a few hens before I figured out what was going on... No, turkens and showgirls are not part turkey, even though they do look like it. You would also need to find out if blackhead (histomoniasis) is a problem in your area, the Ag Extension might be able to tell you. If it's there, chickens can carry it with few or no symptoms, but it can be deadly to turkeys. Did you lose your guinea? If you did, do you know why?

yeah I lost my giunea kidney disease she smelled like ammonia and I was told it was kindney disease there was nothing I could do but she was so thin it might of been she had this before I got her but she was with me for a few months they told me she eats what the chickens eats, SO a tom will kill a chicken hen try8ing to mount her or right out kill? In the spring I plant to but depending on what I can find out her as to if they can co exsist will either be build another place or not get them if I can't get them along with my chickens.

Thanks
