I have had chickens for just one year after wanting them for decades!....I had 9 at one stage but lost 4 this winter, the remaining 5 I have laid pretty well during the winter but now I'm getting between 1-3 eggs a day. I think I've been bitten by the chicken bug and I'm positively gagging to get a few more pullets (no roosters though). My question is....what breed do you like the most?, I'd like good layers, and preferably a nice contrast to the lightish brown eggs I get right now....say, maybe dark brown or blue/green....just not keen on feathered legs or fancy head gear
, plus I live in the Thumb of Michigan so it gets cold......brrrr!....let me know your favey's and why I should consider them
