need price help

A guy in my area wants a tom, to breed his hens. I wanted to trade a tom for hen but he wants to buy it. I have a approx 9 month old black spanish. I paid $10 for the poult. was thinking maybe $25? Any suggestions would be great.

That would be about right for our area. From what I have seen online the price varies from area to area. Have you tried looking in your local craigs list to see what they are going for?

Market price is what it is but if you got that poult as a wee one and grew it out to 9 months feed costs place the price of that bird at closer to $50 than $25. Buy that same bird as home grown heritage for the table and it probably would cost over $100. Personally I would put that tom in the freezer, if not already full, before selling him at a major loss. The trade for a hen makes much more sense.
