Hi all, hoping to get some advice for creating a quick coop/run in Eastern TN, if needed. We are moving from CA and TN and I am exploring the option of re-homing my three Black Australorps or maybe taking them with us. We will be at the house for 10 days this month to try to get things ready for our arrival. In addition to cleaning, painting, scraping some popcorn ceilings we will need to find time to create a safe place for three birds.
Any advice as to a quickie coop that will work in Eastern TN, given the factors I may not be used to (humidity, different predators, etc)? My thoughts for now is to use a small coop attached to a 5x10 dog run with a tarp over the top. Thinking of picking up a small plastic/metal shed from Lowes to convert into a coop with a nesting box, which I will lock them up in at night. The run & coop will be in the middle of a fenced back yard, where my large-ish dogs will be able to walk around all sides of it (although the dogs won't be outside all night, they are inside dogs mostly).
I hope to build something pretty & bigger later, but this will be just for a year or so.
Thoughts?
