My hubby thinks we need the roo to keep our hens laying eggs that are extra tasty & delicious! I tell him we don't NEED a roo unless we want baby chicks.
You do not need a roo to have eggs, tasty or otherwise. The hens will lay no matter what and when they are done, they are done, a roosters presence will not make them lay longer or more eggs.
rooster serv e as protection and leadership. if you yank him without another male around .. one of your hens may stop laying and start acting like a roo.
