I need to find somewhere (online, I live in the middle of nowhere) a small amount of Tylosin (Tylan) in powdered form.
I have a small finch that I raised from 5 days old due to being orphaned, and have noticed her eye beginning to swell slightly in one corner. When I found her, the baby was also breathing very heavily, although once the bird was brought inside where it was cool, had her clogged nostrils picked out, xD and the bruise she got on her keel bone from falling out of the nest healed, she has been breathing normally.
After doing some research, I found out sparrows and this type of finch are susceptible to mycoplasmic conjunctivitis, and the only antibiotic that will KILL the disease is Tylocin. Doxy will knock it out, but only for a little while, and it can strengthen the virus and make it immune to antibiotics.
The only problem is, they want me to buy any Tylosin I have found by the barrel!
Does anyone know a site that will sell me a smaller amount? Like maybe 1/4 lb or something? I only rehab birds once a year, IF I come across any that need help instead of just stuck back in the nest. I'll never use that big old container of it.
If someone reading this post already HAS a barrel of Tylosin, and is willing to send me some, I'll gladly pay you for your trouble as well as the shipping. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
This little bird has been through hell and back, and I'd hate for her to die after coming so far and never being released into the sun.
