I have 2 gorgeous splash plymouth rock pullets out with Mr. B. Ive seen him breed at least one, and Im pretty sure they are laying. Im getting one or 2 eggs a day that are very light, nearly white. Im sure they arent from the barred rocks, the wellies arent laying yet (and hopefully they wouldnt be from them!!), so all that leaves are the splash girls. Ive put probably a dozen or more of them in the incubator, and none have developed. None. So a friend of mine suggested I trim around their vent to make sure Mr. B is able to do his job properly. Now those of you with extra fluffy girls, is this necessary to do in order to insure fertility? I really dont want to get into having to do this (does Mike Rowe/Turkey Farm ring any bells?), but I really really want some fertile eggs from these gorgeous girls. Could there be any other reason why these eggs arent fertile, and will I have to do this forever in order to get fertile eggs from them?
