Ok, I just read the sticky thread with Wheaties, Buster, Bammony, Suellen and the rest about humidity and temps for more successful hatch rates.
Here's the info you smart, experienced may need to know to help me get better hatch rates:
Location- Rome, Georgia- elevation about 630 but up to 1,500ft in some places.
Avg humidity-??? All I could find was that the comfort index based on humidity is 36 out of 100 with higher being better. Its been a wet year so the humidity has been pretty high and in the summer months it gets hot and humid.
Rainfall- about 50 inches avg.
temps-90's-100's in summer months and 30's in winter. We've already had some near 90 deg. days here.
I have a hova bator 1602 still air. My eggs are in an egg turner but I just rock the turner manually, it's not plugged in. I don't think it work right. A digi therm in there right now says 99.6 at the top of the eggs. Humidity is 55% and I can't seem to get it down. I'm on about day 8 of incubation with serama eggs, oegb eggs of my own and some standard golden lakenvelders that i don't think are fertile thanks to the post office playing football with them.
What's my best bet for humidity and temps to get a better hatch with these guys?
Any opiniions at all are appreciated even if you all don't agree. I want to look at the big picture here since I'm a newbie.
