My coop is due a big clean..it's kind of a large shed/small barn and has gotten dusty and I've found mouse droppings. Problem; due to the global shortage of face masks, I am left with the choice of..inhaling it all? I guess I could wrap a bandana around my mouth and nose, but is that really going to protect me from mould, hantavirus or goodness knows what? I suppose I'll just have to get on with it because there is no other choice. Any one got any bright ideas?

Lucky that there's a million DIY mask articles and videos on the internet right now. I think this style looks quickest and easiest for a chicken cleaning project:

I'm planning to try it when I clean out my winter dust to get ready for chicks! Best of luck.
Thank you for this link. Looks easy peasy.

I kind of suck at sewing, but now might be the time to learn!
If you can't/don't sew, you can use a piece of microfleece because it is more dense than a bandana, but tie it and use it like a bandana. As you breathe through it and it gets moist, it won't feel nearly as soggy as cotton does.

I have sensitive teeth but used to be out in -20F all the time and always wore a single or double layer of microfleece. You can do this with any material, but microfleece (think those cheapy $4 small throw blankets sold everywhere in winter) will be the most comfortable.
And they wash up just fine.
