hello I currently have a Drake Campbell khaki and looking to add another duck or two so he isn’t lonely. Questions I have is where can I find ducks older then chicks that can live out in the run, also what duck or ducks should I be looking for that would mix well, thank!

Assuming you’re in the US, you can check your local Craigslist. You might also want to search for a local chicken or livestock Facebook group. There may be people on there trying to rehome/sell ducks. You could also check with your local feed stores to see if they know of any people selling. You could also check your area for any animal swaps. You may also want to check your state thread here on BYC.

If you want eggs and are looking for hens, you’ll want at least 3 that are around the same size. Bigger is okay too; you just don’t want a tiny hen, like a call duck, with a regular size drake. If you just want a buddy and don’t care about eggs you can get another drake. Generally they do fine together if there are no females around.

I just bought 3 16 week old khaki Campbell ducks ! But I’m in Canada , I’d ask your local vet , they know lots about people in your area and might be able to help ,

Good luck

Nice! Yea our drake is great. Very friendly, since your in canada what do we need to do for those types of ducks in the winter months? Not sure how good they are with the cold.

Apparently as long as we block the wind they can go outside a bit , I’m putting mine in the heated chicken coop we heat til just above freezing .They’ll sleep on the floor and my 5 layers will roost , good thing we have poop boards .

They are young and chickens are bantams so I hope they can co exist .

I don’t free range the hens , but would the ducks follow me in my yard ?

I’m no expert but my khaki Campbell follows myself and son all over the yard never walks away. Even follows my dog which is a traned hunting waterfowl dog. I know interesting situation but they are all friends
