I'm in Riverview, Florida. I have two hens I need to rehome as soon as possible due to husband's new position will require some travel. It's killing me as they are my pets. I need to find them a home where I can be absolutely certain that they will NEVER be slaughtered!! NEVER!! No exceptions!! I want them to live out their lives until the day they die naturally. They are 1 1/2 yrs old. One is a Barred Rock and the other an Easter Egger. Also, my Barred Rock no longer lays good eggs. For two months she's laid mainly only soft shell eggs. She's fine, active, playing, eating and drinking!! I believe that she's not able to process calcium properly anymore for some reason?? I've given her extra calcium without any results, thus why I think this. But again, she's fine, she's not sick in any way!! These two gals have been together their entire lives and are totally inseparable!! They go insane if you separate them even for a moment. They must always remain together!! I don't know how they'd react to being placed in a home with other chickens and am also afraid they'd be picked on badly if put in with an established flock?? Ideally, it would be awesome if someone wanting to get some chickens as pets would be interested in just taking these two beautiful girls and just keeping the two of them perhaps. I guess I'm asking alot but I just love these two chickens with all my heart and at the moment my heart is just breaking at having to give them up. It was never my intention.
