I am trying my hand at needlepoint. I was wondering...............

Do you have to stay with the same size thread, or can you use different size threads for the same project?

If your goal is to create smooth vs fluffy vs rough textures, there are stitches and knots that can be made with different sizes and styles of thread.

There are also special stitch patterns that can create the same effects.

If you want a traditional needlepoint that is smooth all over and shows off the design, then stick with the same size needle yarns.
