Hey folks, I need some advice. My husband and I are ready to get some chickens again. We have them in the past, but have always gotten older girls that are ready to go outside. My husband has allergies and asthma and I have been worried that the dust from chicks would bother him. We really would like to get chicks, so we can be apart of the whole process.

So we were thinking, what if we set up a brooder inside the coop that they will eventually live in with a heat lamp. We live in Colorado and this time of year, it can still get cold out, but inside the coop they would be protected from the elements and hoping the heat lamp would keep them warm enough.

This is the best idea I've come up with so far, but I am open to suggestions. We don't have a basement or garage unfortunately. Our house is pretty much all living space and no storage so we're having an hard time figuring out where we could keep a brooder that would still keep the air quality in our house healthy

We have a problem with our four RIR girls pecking on OUR house! They have lots to each and forage for, but love to peck on our home. Besides having to fence everything, any suggestions to keep them from trying to eat our house??
