So a week or two ago I came home and one spur was ripped off my rooster. Blood everywhere! I sat for about an hour with blood stop power and final got it to stop. I put him back in and he proceeded to make it bleed again. So I did the process all over and then super glued it. That worked for about a week till yesterday I came home and he ripped the super glue off. He was pale from loss of blood and very weak. So I quarantined him and gave him some scrambled eggs and water and rapped it in elastic medical tape. He spent the night in a box. Today more life but now he is trying to take the tape off. Any ideas? He is a jubilee Orpington and I would hate to loose him. But I’m running out of ideas and afraid he is trying to commit suicide!

Howdy. Sitting at the breakfast table with The ol' man and read your concern and started mulling over approaches. He jumped right in with two ideas.
First one if your lad is healthy enough and your schedule permits him to go without free access to feed and only eat when supervised. He say the old way was to take that beak out of the mix by capping it. He says depending upon the size use a nut shell or small plastic cone such as the cap off a tube of caulk. Fix a stap to it to fasten it to his head being sure to leave nostrils exposed for breathing. Feed him several times daily and put it back on when he is done. Confine him to a box or crate so he cant stand up to yank it off and get at his bandage. This will allow his foot to heal. To assist with that I recommend cannabis drops if legal where you are. If not...chaga tea.

Option two is coning him so his beak and foot cannot meet to rip off the bandage. He can be free fed with this option. You can make a cone from a pop bottle or milk jug.

He will likely hate either option but if you are concerned about him bleeding out just tell him to suck it up...give him his favorite treats ...and say your prayers.
It sounds manageable and I expect he will make a good recovery under your loving care.

Can you post some photos of the damage?

Is it infected?
If it's not infected and scabbed over a bit, this is what I did with mine. I applied a dab of triple antibiotic ointment to a small piece of sterile nonstick gauze pad, stuck that to the spur bud or the wound, then wrapped well with Sports Wrap/Vet Wrap/Coban.
The wrap is hard to get off, your guy may work on it but he may have a time getting it loose.
If you get the wide wrap, that can be cut in two for narrower strips. A long Narrow strip can be molded easier around the leg than a wide strip.
I would check the wound regularly. I can't remember exactly how long I left the wraps on my guy, probably a good 3 weeks. I did re-do the gauze/ointment and re-wrapped every 2 days for the first week - there after, I think I checked every 3 days or so.
Since yours is very weak from loss of blood, If he were mine, I would direct dose him with a poultry vitamin like Poultry Cell for several days. Dose him at 1 cc per 3 pounds of weight. A large bird like an Orpington, I would probably split that up and dose him in the morning and at night.
Keeping him separated out may keep him calmer. I did leave mine with his hen, she inspected the wrappings, but left them alone. I would definitely look to see if it's infected - since mine never messed with his wrappings and he had both legs wrapped.

Hope that helps.

So after I found him in the nesting box, it wasn’t infected, but I put antimicrobial and antibacterial spray on it and wrapped it in medical tape like your roo. Today he was out and about eating walking and mating I was afraid he would try and take the bandage off but so far he hasn’t messed with it. I’ll change it out again in Tuesday. I have to go to Ethiopia and I want it fresh before I leave. I super surprised cause he ripped off the super glue on day 2 and he hasn’t messed with it so far. Any clue why he might leave it alone and not the super glue?

Glad the wrapping is staying on.
I really don't know about the super glue, if he was out moving around and the wound wasn't wrapped, maybe it came loose and he or a hen worked on getting it off? :idunno

Hopefully the wrappings will stay while you are gone on your trip. Do you have someone to check them during your absence?

Yes! My wife will be taking care of the crew! I have to hide the treats or she will only feed the treats and spoil them!!
