When I bought my chicks I checked with my landlord and neighbors. Everyone said "Great idea! I better get some eggs" Our neighbor has always come over to visit the chicks and play with them. Never once has she had a problem with them being out and about sometimes in her yard, but now she has changed her mind. We live in the county and share an acre lot with the neighbor girl. I got a call from my landlord yesterday saying that she is tired of our chickens and doesn't want to see them out of their coop anymore. SOOOOO he is sorry to inform me but I can't let my babes out of their coop/run anymore unless I can keep them in just our small section of backyard that we don't share with her. GRRRRRR!!!! Now my babes are going to be sad and think they are in trouble. Had to get this off my chest! Thanks for listening to my ramblings :)

Great option is to get some 6 foot bamboo poles. I got 6 for $1 at our local discount store in the spring. It will be a bit more in regular stores.Get a pack of zip ties.Get a roll of plastic fencing. My mom got a huge 7x100 roll from Lowes for $48.Stake out the spot and attach the fencing.Move as needed.Sounds like you don't have much space.Maybe run it along the side of the house?Front? They will be OK.Make some vertical spots in the run for them to jump up on.

I got the 4x50 feet fencing from Lowes for $20.That was good enough for me.I just kept moving things around until I moved them all to the far back yard.It will work out well, and your neighbor will calm down.Just put a smile on your face.and let them know how sorry you are that they were annoyed by the chickens.Show the new set up,and hope for the best.If they keep complaining your LL will make you get rid of them,so remember to smile and do what is needed to save the hens. You can say what you really want in the house!

Hopefully you can find a better home to rent soon.Let the LL know you need more space!

Hope it works out for you and your babies. Neighbors can be strange, to say the least!

Their run is pretty big at 12ft x 19ft but they still love to go into the woods and scratch around. Thanks for the input guys. We are just going to kill them with kindness . . .. . . That tends to always be worse than getting in someone's face WAHAHA
