I have a beautiful White Crested and a Silver Laced Polish Hen along with a White Crested Rooter. Since the Rooter have become overly aggressive when it comes to protecting his hens we have sadly decided to give him to one of our friends but before we did that i though it would be pretty fun to hatch some baby chicks since we have enough room for a few more.

I collected a total of 6 eggs from my hens and decided to give it a try with an incubator we had bought in advance. My day 10 i had noticed that one of the eggs hasn't started to develop yet (ie no veins or nothing) and by day 17 i noticed that one of the stranger looking eggs (saw lots of spots while candling) has stopped progressing in its growth around its 10th day and would no longer react to the light like the others and the air bubble at the top would no longer hold its place while turning (Would move around) so we assumed it died.

Its now day 20 and im supper excited to see if the eggs will hatch but my question is "Are they ready yet?". I've looked online on how they should look around day 19-20 but they don't really resemble the pictures at all. In the pictures ive seem the egg is almost compactly blacked out by the body of the chick but mine don't seem that way. On one side sure i guess it is blacked out but on the other side i can still see thru it and also see some veins. This is my first time trying to hatch chicks so maybe im just over thinking it or something. I can still see some movement within the egg but im wondering if maybe they are to small or something.

Any ideas?

Im only on day 14 of my first incubation so I may be no help im afraid. Although I read on here if your temp is abit low during incubation the eggs may hatch later. Vise versa with higher temps they may hatch early. May be of sone help to you hopefully.

Best of luck its so exciting!
