Nest box outside of the coop?

Does anyone have their nesting boxes outside of the coop, such as in an enclosed run attached to the coop? I bought a great rollaway nest box but don't have a perfect place for it in the coop but have tons of places in the run. I just wasn't sure if that was a big no-no or if it would confuse them. Thanks!

I have a multi-specie flock and have nest boxes everywhere.

As long as you don't have egg-eating predators, there's no reason that I know of for not having nest boxes in the run.
