Nest box too small?

I made mine 12" wide, 14" deep and 16" tall.
My big gals still seem cramped.
I will be rebuilding...... again.

This time I am going with community nests that are 29" wide, 16" deep and 18" tall because that is the biggest I can fit.

I have 8 RIR hens and when they stand up to lay the egg they need 14" of height so they don't have to get bent over while standing up. I have one nest box 36" wide, 14" tall and 14" or so deep.

The tall side of the nesting box will be 21” high sloping down to 12” at the low end. I think I am going to recut a few places and add the extra width, though.

Mine are 14x14x16 tall.....seems to work fine for all birds.

I decided to combine both of my plans and rebuild a wider box but also only use one divider. So in the end I have two 12x18 boxes with a roof that slopes from 11 up to 20 inches.
